Hi,

In order to create an automated documentation tool, I want Matlab to export text and graphs (niecely formatted) into word (or something else like pdf or similar). For now, I export is to a .txt-file and copy-paste it afterwards, but in order to further increase the automation, I want to check if it is possible to export to any other type of document, so: Is this possible in Matlab? And if so, using which functions (or toolboxes)?

Yes, using the MATLAB Report Generator:

OfficeDoc is a much cheaper alternative:
Free version: http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/15192
Pro version: http://ymasoftware.com

You may also try "publish" command in MATLAB.

Hi Jasper,

I use the command "notebook".
http://amath.colorado.edu/computing/Matlab/OldTechDocs/notebook.pdf

It needs a small effort to prepare Word but then it allows you to type the Matlab command directly in the Word document and to evaluate them by calling Matlab from Word.

Nicolas

Is it possible to make a stand-alone version of my program ( which reads data, produces graphs and text and makes a document out of it) using any of the above methods?
So what I mean is, when I use Compiler to make an executable out of it, will the program still run on a computer which does not have Matlab but only MCR?

Hi Jos,

Your program could launch Matlab as an automation server and then call "notebook" from it.
Thus Matlab launches Word and both exchange commands.

Nicolas

Couple weeks ago I was at my friend's house. It was a party there, but moreover I knew that he had a power PC with great number applications. One of the others interested me - word recovery tools. To my great surprise the software worked out my old issue with damaged word documents. I am glad for it has helped me.
