Using here Matlab 7.7.0.471 on Ubuntu 9.10 with Compiz and NVidia Graphic card

When using Matlab the entries of the opened windows of matlab disappears from the taskbar. The Windows are still there, but not at the taskbar. (for example, when you open a dialog to Open a folder the entry of the intiating window at the taskbar disappears)

Unable compiz helps, but i lost also handy functionality of compiz. So i don't like to switch off compiz..

I have tried to change the java engine.
original:
version -java
Java 1.6.0_04 with Sun Microsystems Inc. Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM mixed mode

Change java by:
export MATLAB_JAVA=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.15/jre/

version -java
Java 1.6.0_15 with Sun Microsystems Inc. Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM mixed mode, sharing

But this doesn't solve my problem.

Who knows a solution to this?

Hello,

This is a compiz bug.

In order to see the taskbar, you must disable the 3d effects from compiz.

I had the same problem using labview in mandriva using compiz.

Best Regards,

Guilherme

Hi,

Since I have been looking for a solution to this very problem, I wanted to note in this forum that there is a fix in compiz that resolves this problem. It is slated to be available in the 11.04 release of Ubuntu. It is also relatively easy to fix yourself. See the bottom of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libwnck/+bug/144406

Regards,

Paul Griffiths
