Thread Subject: control the figure resolution

Hi

My problem is I am trying to save some figures in Matlab using the command
saveas(gcf,'image.jpg')
How do i control the resolution and the main shape of the figure
I mean Matlab always gives the figure in square shape and when i export it to word and try change the picture to rectangular shape i would not see the numbers on the axis

Any help pleeeeeeeease
