I have a question in regard to Initial state probability (IST) and transition probability (TP) used in Hidden Markov models. Is it alright if both IST and TP are chosen randomly and do they have any drastic effects on the output of the HMM if they are randomly chosen ?
If they cannot be randomly chosen, could someone let me know if possible with an example, on what basis should I select IST and TP?. Thank you.
