I'm used to using windows where I can copy Matlab figures and paste into Powerpoint or Word. Now I'm using Linux. I can't see a way to easily get figures into "impress" the open office PPT clone. Do I have to save to files and import or is there another way? I tend to go through a lot of figures, so this is a productivity killer.

I "go through a lot of figures" also and find that printing to .png
files, then inserting them into PowerPoint gives a much better quality
result than copy to the clipboard and paste.
And I don't find it a productivity killer at all.
You are in control of your own productivity, you just need to hone
your skills.
