roots.m is not adequate for you?

Perhaps you want a functional inverse? Of course, you
must then recognize this is impossible for polynomials
of degree higher than 4 in general.

Or perhaps, you have a polynomial in more than 1
dimension? Again, this can be converted into a 1-d
problem for low order polynomials. But if the total
degree is higher than 4, you are again stuck.
