Subject: Plotting a linear trend line using "tools", "basic fitting"

I would like to plot a linear trend line on a scatter chart. However, in the "figure" screen, I click the tools menu and then select "basic fitting" and highlight the "linear" option box. Normally a trend line appears on the graph at this stage, however, in this case I get a pop up box that says "Matrix is singular to working precision" and no best fit line appears.

Any suggestions on what I can do to get the best fit line on my scatter graph?

Thanks.
