Restoring an Autosave File

Greetings,

I came back to my computer today to find that it had crashed overnight, and apparently I lost some work I had done on a m-file in the editor that I evidently failed to save before leaving. I noticed that the .asv autosave file was last saved after doing the lost work, as also indicated by the size (7K vs. the 4k original .m file).

Since I'm guessing it was designed for just such an occasion, would someone be able to tell me how I can go about restoring the (presumably) saved work in the autosave file, in the process saving myself a bit of time? I searched online and couldn't find an answer, nor do I see an obvious way through the menu. Thanks very much!

Dear Thomas,

The ASV file is exactly the same text file as the M-file is. So just rename it in the command line, Explorer, etc.

Good luck, Jan

Wow. Changing the file extension works wonders! Thanks Jan!

Just rename it replacing the ".asv" with ".m".
.asv's are just text files
