When you've done that, would you mind passing the results on to the transit
company in my city? The automatic stop announcements on the bus here keep
pronouncing "Corydon" as core-ee-den rather than the proper coar-i-dun ('coar'
as in 'coarse', 'i' as in 'it', 'dun' as in the colour with pronunciation
fairly similar to 'done'). And 'Portage' the announcements sometimes pronounce
as pour-tawj (awe), and sometimes as pour-tahj (ah), but never as the proper
"pour-tidge" (rhymes with "midge"). Though of course if you have crossed the
river into the French portion of the city, pour-tawj is the correct
pronounciation, and if you are in an inter-city bus towards the next city
over, the next city over is pour-tahj, all with the same spelling, so your
algorithm will of course include a GPS to figure out which local rules to use
for pronunciation...
