I need to find a bounding box of a region in an image. I know there is regionprops boundingbox method. However this only gives a horizontal rectangle and never one along a diagonal. Is there anything on Matlab for this?

Does it have to be rectangular? If it can be any polygon, the convex hull is the best bounding box. You could always protuberate it into a rectangle.

Or use John D'Errico's minimum bounding rectangle:

I tried to a couple of weeks ago. But couldn't make it work on an image.
