Dear all,

This morning my machine was updated from Windows XP service pack 2 to Windows XP service pack 3. After this update, Matlab R14SP3 doesn't start anymore.

If I start Matlab just from the start menu, the interface comes up but is not completed (Some of the subwindows contain a part of my desktop, etc). After that, the application doesn't respond to anything. I can only kill it using the taskmanager.

If I start Matlab with the option -nojvm, the software works properly.

Any ideas?

Best regards,
Martijn

Hi Martijn,

You may try this solution:
Startup might fail with Windows XP custom desktop theme

Note: Windows Xp Service Pack3 is officially supported as of R2008a.

Thanks for your reply. I already tried this solution, but it didn't work out. Changing the compatibility mode does nothing, for 'whatever' fix.

Now I installed JRE6, hooked that up to the MATLAB_JAVA system variable and 'm getting some more information. It displays an error message like:

com.mathworks.mwswing.desk.Desktop.showClientWithoutActivatingFrame(Desktop.java:3942)
com.mathworks.mde.desk.MLDesktop.access$300(MLDesktop.java:42)
.
.
.
And so on.

Solutions like clearing the 'Application data/Mathworks/...' directories are also not working.
