I have generated figures in matlab however for publishing they must be at least 500 dpi and saved as a TIFF file. Is there any way to export a graph and alter the resolution? Or does this have to be included in the code? Thanks for your help.

Have you looked at Oliver Woodford's export_fig on the FEX? http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/23629-exportfig
