How to combine to objects of different dimension for patch application?

Subject: How to combine to objects of different dimension for patch application?

I created a object A by defining the A.vertices and A.faces. Each face of A has four vertices.
I created another object B by defining the B.vertices and B.faces. Each face of B has six(any value different from four) vertices.

I want to combine A and B to a new obj C and then define the obj properties such as color, etc. and do some translation, scaling, etc. I used a "combine" (from http://www.nbb.cornell.edu/neurobio/land/projects/hierarchy/) to combine A and B, however the new obj is a struct and the scaling, translation function can not be applied.
The error message says "??? Reference to non-existent field 'vertices'."
When I print out C, it shows as two struct C = [1x1 struct] [1x1 struct] instead of one obj with .vertices and .faces.

Can anybody help me? Thanks.

Thanks.
