How do I differentiate between various shapes when doing image recognition?

Subject: How do I differentiate between various shapes when doing image recognition?

I am working on a project called "Comets Recognition From Satellite Images".

I tried to eliminate noise using subtraction and blur by Gaussian. I have found objects in the image. The image may consist of noise such as cosmic rays, blobs etc. How could I differentiate between noise like cosmic rays from actual comets? As you have asked me to send images I am sending you the images LASCO C2 images.

Any ideas would be helpful.

You didn't send me anything. But even if you did, can't you tell if
they are different or not? Don't they look different or have some
other distinguishing characteristic, like comets are stable over time
whereas rays, blobs, and noise are not? So then just use standard
image processing techniques. Once you know what to do, if you don't
know the MATLAB commands for doing that, then ask The Mathworks, or
back here. Or if you had trouble with your MATLAB code, then come
back here and paste the code, and the error messages or problem.
