Thread Subject: greyscale 2D image to 3D autocad file

Hi ALL:
Want to know if this is possible.
Have a 2D gray scale image. The gray value is the elevation or Z value. Can we convert it into a 3D autoCad file like dxf or equivalent.
i.e. Want to convert a topographic image into a 3D autocad data file.

This is probably a good place to start:
http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/?term=autocad

If necessary you could reverse engineer some of these files to write the information you have to dxf etc. file.
