Dear community,

you find a lot of literature about mesh decimation. In MATLAB this task is nearly solved by the command reducepatch.

To my confusion, this function does not work properly in 3d. I have testdata where the reduction fails. I tried to write a mesh reduction on my own, based on collapsing edges which belong to regions of small curvature. It works, but is slooooooooow.

Does anyone have nice Java or MATLAb code for mesh decimation in 3d available to share?
