3D plot of residuals from fits

Subject: 3D plot of residuals from fits

Hi all,
I am looking for a way to display the residuals from fits that were generated using 2 different parameters that change over a certain range.
Basically one parameter was changed in a linear range between 0 and 1 and the second one in a logarithmic way between 0.001 and 10.
If I have 5 steps each I would therefore generate 25 fits whose residuals should be plotted against both changed parameters.
I saw a figure that had 1 parameter as the x-axis, the other one as the y-axis and the residuals were color-coded areas.
Does anybody have an idea how to do this? I am also open to other suggestions how to best visualize these data sets. In addition I would like to point out that in future I will have many more fits, not only 25 but more towards 1000s or so.
Any suggestions and ideas are highly appreciated.
Reasons why I don't just do a surface plot is that I don't know how to handle the logarithmic spacing of one of these axis and the data set doesn't come across too well in this way.

Thanks a lot,

Philipp
