No, RDBMS is a database for storing large amount of data,
which you said you had. There are many free ones around.

If you want something to use with Matlab, then it depends
on what you want to store. Why not just use mat file?

You really need to provide more detailed specifications.

Size of data? format of data (text or binary), an idea what
you will be using for, etc...

doc fileformats in matlab to find what format there are.
