Subject: inserting markers (vertical lines) in a 3D plot

In a 2D image, I have previously placed vertical lines marking points of interest (eg: http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l25/Affeyistruth/misc/test-1.png). I am now working with 3D plots, and I would like to achieve the same effect. So far, my attempts have yielded close, but incorrect, results.

This is the relevant code for the 2D plotting:

            hold on;
            plot([0 0],[get(gca,'ylim')],'k-');
            plot([-1000 -1000],[get(gca,'ylim')],'k-');
            plot([-2000 -2000],[get(gca,'ylim')],'k-');
            plot([-3000 -3000],[get(gca,'ylim')],'k-');

            hold off;

I image that the 3D version would be pretty similar...
Any input is appreciated!
