Rename file

I want to rename a bunch of files from matlab gui.
I am now doing it using 'movefile' matlab code. But, the drawback is, this command does the job of cut-paste of the file, thereby taking huge time for files having larger size.
Does anybody know whether there exists any code that just rename a file and time taken to rename is independent of file size.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Have a look at system (doc system) command in matlab. Depending on your OS you can call system commands to move/rename files.
