I've been using isempty ()
data=get(handles.uitable1,'data')
data =
     '' ''
     '' ''
     '' ''
     '' ''
I wanted to check if uitable1 (data) is empty then the calculation will stop and display a message, if uitable1 (data) is not empty then the variable "data" will be used in further calculations

And did you try using all() like the answer given to your duplicate
post in "Answers" on the Mathworks site? Did you even go back and
look at those responses?
