Is there any method through which I can select points on the boundary of the object say 6-8 points and then I can get coordinates of those points.

Exactly what do you mean by "select" and "boundary"? Did you run
bwboundaries and you just want to select certain indexes returned in
the coordinates array that bwboundaries returns? Or do you want to
try to manually indicate certain points (which may or may not be on a
boundary of an object) with ginput and simply get the (x,y) coordinate
of where you pointed?
