Hi, all,

I'm trying to use one serial port on the baseboard of my target PC to receive and send the data. I see the demo on the Help documentation use two serial port, could I do it just use one? Thanks.

Regards,

Fei

Fei,

The demo models use two ports to get loopback. One transmitter is
connected to the other receiver. That's just to show both sides.

Of course, when you connect to some external device, you send to it and
receive back from it on the same port.

I wrote a white paper on how to use serial ports in xPC Target. Take a
look at:

http://www.mathworks.com/products/xpctarget/technicalliterature.html

Look at the second fact sheet, 'xPC Target Serial Communication
Information'. The zip file contains a pdf and several example mdl files
that are discussed in the pdf.

Hi Gordon,

I looked at the link you provided to get the zip file where you have the example models for xPC target Serial Communication but unfortunately did not find it there. I am trying to read data from a GPS receiver and will appreciate if you could send me some example models or share some links. Thanks.

Hi,
I'm on the same boat..I'm generating GPS data (simulating a GPS receiver) and I'd like to transmit it and receive it to validate the data in and out.
I also have only one serial port on my xPC, does anyone have a sample model to do this.
thanks,

Mo
