Hi,

there are a number of functions thare are already multi-threaded by MATLAB without the Parallel Computing Toolbox. One of those is the matrix multiply. However it is not clear, wether this only is for dense, but also sparse matrices. Does anyone know this?

Same is for the backslash operator, as there are different algorithms behind it.

So, it would be nice also know which solvers there use multithreading?

In general I think that, the MATLAB documentation should provide more information about this, directly in the help of the function.

Thanks for the information!

Look at this part of MathWorks web site:

Thank you Loren for the information. I have seen this site, but however it is not written, wether the matrix multiply is multithreaded for dense and sparse matrices. From what I interpret the part about BLAS, I would guess that only dense matrix multiply is multithreaded. Is that correct?
