Hi there,

I'm using matlab 2010a on a mac osx (10.6) launching the application in 32 bit mode to successfully use the instrument control box both with gpib and visa.
I'd like to move to 2011b to get also the possibility to use the Gige support in the Image Acquisition Toolbox.

But this release cannot be launched in 32bit mode so the instrument control box seems to be useless.

Is it correct? Is there a possibility to have both the toolboxes running??

any hint/discussion really appreciated.

thank you

ciao

Peppe

Hi,

MATLAB R2011a is not available for 32-bit Mac OSX.
Please see this website for more details on platform support.

Hope this helps,

Hi Ankit,
thank you very much for your reply.

I knew the roadmap, what I'd like to know is if there will be a support to communicate with instruments using GPIB and/or VISA on mac osx with 64bit or if I have to find other solutions, for instance using mex files.
Do you know anything about this?

thanks

peppe

Hi,

For GPIB and/or VISA to work on Mac OSX with 64-bit MATLAB, the 3rd party (NI, Agilent etc.) GPIB/VISA driver has to be native 64-bit.

Last I checked there were no native 64-bit OSX driver available for either GPIB or VISA from any vendor making those interfaces un-usable on 64-bit MATLAB on Mac.

Sorry, I was not able to help much.
