open a huge mat file

Hi guys

I have a huge mat file from a device which is over 10 GB. I want to know is there any easy way to open it in Matlab part by part instead of going deep into the mat file structure and make c program?

help matfile (if you have not-too-old matlab release).

I have tried this method before. Here is what I got:
'Matrix API is called with negative size or index'.
Do you have some other idea?

I suspect
1) it's TMW bug or
2) the file is generated by 64-bit Matlab and you try to open with 32-bit MATLAB which can never address that big file due to OS limitation.
