Hi,
I'm taking an image of a single object. It is a camera shot (from 3 mega pixel camera). The background is gray-white(the object is place on a white paper). So how should i get the foreground i.e. the object and remove the background? I want to do all this without converting the image to gray-scale or distorting it in any way because i need the same pixels/matrix for future use.

Hi, thanks for replying. I did see all of these. I want to know if these will be applicable for what i will be doing. Gradually I will be increasing the number of fruits and vegetables in my project and then later classify them. So should I use the colour segmentation or some other approach? Moreover, i will want the same image pixels to redraw them and get the depth as well as I might be taking more pictures using kinect. But that will be done later. What do you suggest?
