I recorded a signal and along with the signal "ambient noise" is posing a problem for further signal analysis. How to remove this noise? I tried FIR filtering approach but in vain.

P.S: frequency range of the noise and the signal are almost same.

Based on the sparse information you've given us, I'd say you're screwed.
Have you tried wavelets?

Try a better filter.
