Migrating Matlab to new MacBook

I just migrated to a new Macbook and transferred my Matlab student edition software. It won't launch. When I tried launching, it requested me to install Java and X11, which I did. Now when I try to launch, the Matlab icon appears momentarily then goes away. No messages. Nothing. Does anyone know what I need to do to get it to work on my new laptop? Thanks.

For installation/startup issues go to the "real" support at TMW site--I
think they support those even for student editions <www.mathworks.com>

Did you copy over the files or did you reinstall? I suspect you're probably
going to need to reinstall, but to be certain please contact Technical
Support for help with this startup issue.
