Description

CarMaker/TruckMaker/MotorcycleMaker for Simulink enables full integration of the open integration and test platform from IPG Automotive into the MATLAB® and Simulink® modeling and simulation environment. The CarMaker product family itself provides an advanced software package for Model-Based Design, testing and development in the areas of autonomous vehicles, ADAS, powertrain and vehicle dynamics. The open integration and test platform enables the development of autonomous driving functions, advanced driver assistance and powertrain systems as well as suspension, steering and chassis control systems.

The CarMaker functionality was integrated into the Simulink environment via MATLAB, Simulink API functions as well as S-functions. The integration is based on a closely linked combination of the two applications, resulting in a powerful and robust simulation environment.

The use of CarMaker/TruckMaker/MotorcycleMaker in the Simulink environment does not differ from the use of standard S-function blocks or integrated Simulink blocks. The CarMaker/TruckMaker/MotorcycleMaker blocks are connected in the same way as other Simulink blocks. In addition, existing Simulink models can be integrated into the vehicle model with a few mouse clicks. The integration does not mean a loss of functionality, as all CarMaker/TruckMaker/MotorcycleMaker functions are included and can be used in conjunction with Simulink.

The graphical user interface of CarMaker/TruckMaker/MotorcycleMaker enables controlling of the simulation, parameter settings and defining of maneuvers and road configurations. IPGControl enables data analysis and graphical representation. Movie NX provides realistic animation and rendering of the multi-body vehicle model in three-dimensional space.

The simulation results can be accessed using the MATLAB utility cmread. This utility loads the data from any simulation results file into the MATLAB workspace. All MATLAB functions, such as graph drawing and smoothing, can then be used to post-process and display the simulation results. MATLAB® Coder™ and Simulink® Coder™ are required to use the C interface.
