Description

XWaves is an ocean surface wavefield analysis system for conducting scientific investigations, metocean design studies, model evaluations, and real-time observations. All system functions are controlled by a graphical user interface (GUI). A detailed user’s guide, sample data, and HTML help utility are included. 

XWaves imports wave spectra from most popular wave sensors, models, and Internet sites. An integrated World Wide Web data downloader brings the U.S. national wave observation archives (NDBC and NODC) to the user's desktop. XWaves performs a proven wave partition analysis to identify and track windsea and swell components through space and time. For design studies, XWaves spectral fitting and sea state tools generate essential engineering products including joint-probability tables, histogram tables, and scatter plots.

XWaves is used by ocean engineers, scientists, and metocean specialists who are involved with the observation, modeling, and analysis of ocean surface waves; offshore structure design activities; and ocean wave climate investigations.
