High-Performance Real-Time Systems for Rapid Prototyping and HIL
Description
Founded in 1997, OPAL-RT Technologies is a developer and integrator of cost-effective rapid prototyping and real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation systems, optimized to execute Simulink® and Stateflow® models.
OPAL-RT offers extremely scalable simulators, from single-processor xPC TargetTM based rapid control prototyping systems to RT-LAB Distributed Real-Time HIL Simulators containing up to 64 processors.
OPAL-RT's full line of high-performance, multicore, distributed, and multirate electrical system simulators, including eDRIVEsim and eMEGAsim, are fully integrated with MATLAB®, Simulink®, Real-Time Workshop®, and SimPowerSystemsTM software.
The combination of scalability, with the use of high-end multicore processors, and integration with products from The MathWorks means that OPAL-RT can deliver and install fully integrated HIL simulation systems for a wide range of applications including:
- Development, real-time simulation, and test of single or distributed mechatronics and power electronic drive controls
- Integration of FPGA-based I/O hardware and software modules in an xPC TargetTM environment significantly decreasing xPC TargetTM latency, addressing needs faced in the development of high-end commercial and military transportation and aerospace systems
- Implementation of system integration labs (SIL) to test the interaction of interconnected controllers, installed in large mechatronics and distributed energy and propulsion systems. These systems are used in military and commercial hybrid vehicles, trains, aircraft, ships, and large-scale electrical power grid systems and wind farms
- Multirate, distributed simulation of power electronic component subsystems and controllers, with mechanical subsystems. Power electronic component subsystems and controllers are simulated with sub-microsecond time step values directly on FPGA processors, while slower mechanical subsystems are simulated on multicore INTEL or AMD processors with time step values of greater than 20 microseconds
- Open- and closed-loop testing of embedded control units (ECUs) used in automotive, electrical systems, and aerospace applications
