Genetic Algorithm and Direct Search Toolbox 2.4.2

Introduction to the Genetic Algorithm Graphical User Interface

The Genetic Algorithm and Direct Search Toolbox extends MathWorks optimization tools with algorithms that are useful for problems that are difficult to solve with traditional optimization techniques. These include problems that are not well-defined or are difficult to model mathematically, or when computation of the objective function is discontinuous or highly nonlinear, or has unreliable or undefined derivatives.

You can access toolbox functions for the genetic and direct search algorithms through a graphical user interface (GUI) or the command line. This demonstration focuses on the GUI for working with the genetic algorithm. The videos that follow highlight key features of the tool.

Defining a Problem

See an introduction to the genetic algorithm GUI and learn how to quickly define a problem and specify a variety of algorithm options.
