Version 6.0, part of Release 2007b, includes the following enhancements:

  • New interactive tool (implay) for viewing MATLAB movies, videos, or image sequences
  • New programmable GUI tools for interactive placement and manipulation of regions of interest (ROI)
  • Image Tool includes interactive cropping, contrast enhancement that can modify image data, and ability to save changed images to files
  • New demosaic function to convert Bayer pattern encoded images to truecolor RGB images
  • New impyramid function to create a multiresolution Gaussian pyramid
  • Enhanced performance for thinning and skeletonization using bwmorph function, and for filtering RGB images using imfilter function
  • Enhanced ROI behavior for imcrop, roipoly, and roifill functions

  • imresize function that runs faster, uses less memory, supports new interpolation methods, and supports new options for specifying output size
  • applycform function that uses tetrahedral interpolation for profiles containing multidimensional lookup tables, and returns more accurate results
  • The Control Point Selection Tool enhanced visual appearance, improved usability, and support for use in scripts
  • impoint, imline, and imrect functions to support interactive placement, and now imrect also supports interactive resizing
  • New montage parameters that control the arrangement and appearance of the images displayed

  • New dicomlookup function for searching DICOM data dictionary for attributes
  • Performance of the dicominfo function significantly improved
  • Added symmetric option to graycomatix function that produces graylevel co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) that is symmetric across its diagonal
  • The iccread function supports named colors in ICC profiles
  • The imdistline function now uses a different cursor shape at its endpoints to enhance usability

Version 5.2, part of Release 2006a, includes the following enhancements:

  • The iccread and iccwrite functions have been updated to support recent changes to the ICC specification.
  • The iccread, makecform, and applycform functions can now read and process DeviceLink, ColorSpace, Abstract, and Grayscale profiles.
  • The iccread function can now read parametric curve types.
  • Three new utility functions control what happens when a figure's mouse pointer moves over and then leaves an object.
  • A new utility function specifies drag constraints for the imdistline, imline, impoint, and imrect functions. (Drag constraints limit the ways that you can move line, point, and rectangle objects in a figure.)

  • Support for two new medical image file formats: Analyze 7.5 and Interfile

  • New point, line, and rectangle functions to create points, lines, and rectangles that can be dragged and (in some cases) resized in a figure window
  • Two new utility functions for use with profile-based color conversion functions: iccroot and iccfind
