Using EDA Simulator Link™ DS with MATLAB®

With the MATLAB component and MATLAB test bench capabilities, the Synopsys simulator is the client and MATLAB the server. Because MATLAB algorithms are untimed, the time wheel resides in the Synopsys simulator.

You can connect a Synopsys simulator to multiple MATLAB components or test benches running on one or more MATLAB servers. A MATLAB server can interface to multiple HDL entities and Synopsys simulators.

Using the MATLAB test bench capability, you can reuse the same MATLAB test bench that you created to verify your MATLAB algorithm to verify your HDL implementation of the algorithm. Using the MATLAB component capability, a MATLAB algorithm replaces entities not yet coded in HDL.

MATLAB® as a test bench for an HDL simulator, with MATLAB as the simulation environment. MATLAB drives and analyzes the implementation while the block, an HDL implementation, runs in the HDL simulator. Click on image to see enlarged view.
