Introduction
EDA Simulator Link™ MQ is a cosimulation interface that integrates MATLAB® and Simulink® into the hardware design flow for field programmable gate array (FPGA) and application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) development. It provides a fast bidirectional link between MATLAB and Simulink and ModelSim® HDL simulator (from Mentor Graphics). EDA Simulator Link MQ software enables you to efficiently verify your RTL-level models from within MATLAB and Simulink. It provides native cosimulation support for both VHDL® and Verilog®.
The traditional Simulink system-level design and simulation environment supports mixed-language simulation of MATLAB, C, C++, and Simulink blocks. By adding HDL to the simultaneous, direct, mixed-language capabilities of MATLAB and Simulink, EDA Simulator Link MQ integrates algorithm and system design with hardware implementation.
Key Features
- Full VHDL® and Verilog® support
- MATLAB® component capability, enabling simulation of MATLAB code in place of HDL
- Frame-based simulation, providing accelerated verification (with Signal Processing Blockset™, available separately)
- User-selectable communication modes between MATLAB and Simulink® and ModelSim®, providing shared memory (for faster performance) and TCP/IP sockets (for versatility)
- Multiple simulation options from one Simulink model, including connection of multiple Simulink HDL cosimulation blocks to one or more ModelSim simulators
- Multiple simulation options from MATLAB, including connection of multiple MATLAB components or test benches to one or more MATLAB servers
- Interactive or batch mode cosimulation, debugging, testing, and verification of HDL code from MATLAB
