This application installs the Pro/ENGINEER-to-SimMechanics translator as a Pro/TOOLKIT application, which allows you to save Pro/ENGINEER CAD assemblies in the Physical Modeling XML file format. SimMechanics can read these files to generate Simulink models.
To use the translator, you must first install it, then register it with Pro/ENGINEER.
You do not need MATLAB® or any MATLAB component, such as SimMechanics, to install the Pro/ENGINEER-to-SimMechanics translator. You need to have Pro/ENGINEER installed.
Define the translator installation directory as $INSTALL.
While installing the translator, the installer creates a Pro/TOOLKIT registry
file called proe2sm.dat, a small text file
written to the $INSTALL directory that tells Pro/ENGINEER to treat the files constituting
the translator as a Pro/TOOLKIT application. Each line of the registry file consists of one of a predefined
set of keywords, followed by a value. The registry file in DLL mode takes the
following standard form:
name YourApplicationName
startup dll
exec_file $LOADDIR/$MACHINE_TYPE/obj/filename.dll
text_dir $LOADDIR
end
There are two ways to register the translator with Pro/ENGINEER:
proe2sm.dat
file to your existing Pro/TOOLKIT registry file.Consult the Pro/TOOLKIT User's Guide that accompanies your Pro/ENGINEER installation for further details.
The installation of the Pro/ENGINEER-to-SimMechanics translator includes documentation and example files separate from the MATLAB® Help system. Relative to the translator installation, you can view these respective file sets in
$INSTALL/text/html/usascii/
and $INSTALL/text/pdf/usascii/$INSTALL/examples/The documentation includes an HTML page and a PDF book. The examples consist of sample assemblies and parts.
proe2sm.dat
file text into your Pro/TOOLKIT registry file, delete that text.
$INSTALL/ directory, double-click the
executable file labeled uninstall.bat.The uninstallation procedure removes all Pro/ENGINEER-to-SimMechanics translators on your system in a single step.
