Real-Time Deployment
With Target Support Package FM5, you can add I/O device driver blocks to your controller model, generate and build real-time code, and download the code to the target. You can then execute the code using an on-target rapid prototyping approach to determine whether the algorithms provide the required behavior on production hardware. You can also deploy and execute the code in a production environment.
Application Download
You can download the code via a background debugger mode (BDM) connection or via a CAN or serial connection using a boot-strap loader. The bootstrap loader lets you download new program code even when the control unit is deployed in the field. Rebooting the Freescale MPC5xx activates the boot-strap loader to retrieve newly downloaded application code via a CAN or serial connection. Once the application code completes downloading to the Freescale MPC5xx, it automatically begins execution in real time. The CAN or serial downloading feature lets you download to flash or RAM memory.
Multitasking Scheduler
A preemptive, multitasking scheduler supports execution of multirate systems. You can configure this scheduler to enable temporary overruns, maximizing processor utilization on systems where a task occasionally takes longer than normal to execute. Models can also be configured to run in single-tasking mode.
Parameter Tuning and Signal Logging
Target Support Package FM5 supports parameter tuning and signal logging using either Simulink external mode or a third-party calibration tool, such as CANape® from Vector Informatik, Inc. or Vision™ from Accurate Technologies Inc. Parameter tuning or signal logging uses a CAN connection between the host and target.
