EcoCAR | The NeXt Challenge
During the 2009 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) conference, MathWorks representatives talk about their work with EcoCAR student teams and about "making math cool again" using Model-Based Design.
EcoCAR is an advanced vehicle technology engineering competition established by the U.S. Department of Energy in partnership with General Motors and Argonne National Laboratory. Over a three-year period, student teams from 17 North American universities re-engineer a 2009 Saturn Vue with the challenge of improving fuel economy and reducing emissions while retaining the vehicle's performance and consumer appeal.
As a major sponsor, The MathWorks provides student teams with training on Model-Based Design as well as products that enable the approach, including:
- MATLAB
- Simulink
- Control System Toolbox
- Simulink Control Design
- Fixed-Point Toolbox
- Simulink Fixed Point
- Real-Time Workshop
- Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder
- Stateflow
