Migrating from MATRIXx to MathWorks Products
The MathWorks Consultants are committed to helping your organization implement a smooth transition from MATRIXx to the MathWorks family of products. We offer a range of services to simplify and accelerate the transition to MATLAB and Simulink. Our goal is to see you rapidly become effective with all MathWorks tools and to help you build a stable Model-Based Design platform for the long term.
A key tool for migration is the SystemBuild-to-Simulink Translator (SB2SL), which is part of the Simulink product family. SB2SL can help translate large portions of a SystemBuild model to Simulink automatically. Parts of the model, however, require, or benefit from, custom translation and tuning. This ensures that the resulting Simulink model is an accurate reflection of the original and that its architecture is optimized for the Simulink environment.
In addition to model translation, our expertise can be used to develop custom code generators and device drivers for your hardware environment.

- Training and Project Jumpstart
- Product training should always be the starting point for organizations that are new to our products. Our Product Training Group offers standard courses that will give you an initial understanding of our products and knowledge of how to use them effectively.
- Project Jumpstart is a 4-day transition program in which MathWorks Consultants will work with your team on projects that were developed using MATRIXx. This program further expedites the transition to the MathWorks products and facilitates immediate knowledge transfer.
- Model translation. The MathWorks Consultants also provides
the following services to translate existing MATRIXx models into Simulink:
- Automatic translation of the models using SB2SL
- Custom translation of non-converted blocks. Simulink and SystemBuild are similar tools, but each contains components that require interpretation and manual conversion to achieve optimal performance.
- Model optimization. Optimizing model performance for the Simulink environment results in faster simulation speed and better code generation.
- Testing and verification. Providing the same simulation results from Simulink as your current solution in MATRIXx.
- Translation of XMath code to MATLAB. This may constitute only a small portion of the transition activity.
- Organization-wide planning and adoption. We can develop modeling guidelines and styles, customized for your organization to facilitate the sharing of models between designers within your organization and the development of in-house expertise.
