This book is designed for a computer-based DSP laboratory course that supplements a lecture course on the subject. It includes eleven laboratory exercises, with each exercise containing a number of projects to be carried out on a computer. Each project is followed by a series of questions designed to teach the student the fundamentals of MATLAB and the key DSP concepts. The first half of the book assumes the reader has no background in MATLAB, while in the second half it asks the student to write the necessary MATLAB programs to carry out the project. A short review of the key concepts and features of MATLAB is provided in an appendix.

Companion software available
Companion Software: The author has developed a set of MATLAB M-files that are available on a disk bound into the book. These files require MATLAB and the Signal Processing Toolbox. Also included are partially written report documents for the first ten laboratory exercises.
