Written for advanced-level undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental science, this book introduces mathematics as a useful tool for understanding environmental science, with emphasis on developing appropriate equations, rather than solving given equations. Topics covered include first-and second-order ordinary differential equations, linear and nonlinear algebraic equations, as well as partial differential equations.

MATLAB is introduced and used to solve numerous examples in the book. Symbolic Math Toolbox is also briefly mentioned.
