This book offers a complete treatment of frequently studied machine systems. Subject areas range from background theory and models to implementation and verification techniques for simulations and linear analysis. Although the book focuses on the techniques applicable to the modeling and simulation of electric machinery, it also illustrates the usefulness of knowing the physical aspects of machines, the assumptions made when modeling machines, and the basic operating characteristics of these machines in verifying the correctness of an implemented simulation and in interpreting simulation results.

A full chapter is devoted to the use of MATLAB and Simulink, and an appendix provides an overview of key numerical methods used. In addition, the author has developed a set of MATLAB M-files and Simulink models, which is available for download and on a CD bound in the book.
