Written for engineering students, this text introduces system dynamics and fully integrates MATLAB and Simulink throughout. The book includes discussion of the root locus and frequency response plots, among other methods, for assessing system behavior in the time and frequency domains as well as topics such as function discovery, parameter estimation, and system identification techniques, motor performance evaluation, and system dynamics in everyday life. The revised second edition contains expanded chapters on transfer functions, state variable methods, control system analysis, and PID control system design issues.

An introduction to MATLAB is included in an appendix. Simulink and Control System Toolbox are also mentioned. In addition, a supplemental set of MATLAB and Simulink code is available for download.
