MuPAD Pro Support Resources and Frequently Asked Questions

SciFace Software GmbH & Co. KG, the maker of MuPAD Pro, has been acquired by The MathWorks, the maker of MATLAB technical computing software.  The following FAQs provide additional information.

1. Will MuPAD continue to be developed?
Yes, MuPAD will continue to be developed by the existing development team in Paderborn, Germany, but available as part of The MathWorks’ Symbolic Math Toolbox, which is used with MATLAB.

2. Can I purchase MuPAD Pro licenses? 
MuPAD Pro is no longer sold as a standalone product.  However, The MathWorks has incorporated MuPAD technology into Symbolic Math Toolbox, which can be purchased for use with MATLAB.

3. Can I continue using my existing MuPAD Pro license?
You can continue using your existing MuPAD Pro licenses. However, we encourage you to transition to MATLAB and Symbolic Math Toolbox and stay up to date with the latest MuPAD developments.  

4. Can I continue getting technical support for MuPAD Pro?
You can continue to receive technical support for MuPAD Pro.  Learn how to request technical support from The MathWorks.

5. How can I learn more about Symbolic Math Toolbox 5.1?
You can see product details, demos, and other technical information on Symbolic Math Toolbox 5.1.

6. Is there a special version of Symbolic Math Toolbox 5.1 for students?
The latest MATLAB and Simulink Student Version release includes Symbolic Math Toolbox 5.1. In addition to Symbolic Math Toolbox, Student Version contains MATLAB, Simulink, and six other toolboxes and blocksets. You can get additional information on Student Version and purchase the product online.

7. Will I be able to run my existing MuPAD Pro applications with MATLAB and Symbolic Math Toolbox 5.1?
Yes.  The MathWorks and SciFace have developed Symbolic Math Toolbox 5.1 such that – to the greatest extent possible – it provides compatibility with existing MuPAD Pro applications.
