MATLAB has not been tested or qualified in X-Emulation environments. Therefore, running MATLAB in this environment is not officially supported.
Note that your license agreement may not allow you to execute MATLAB over a remote connection.
If the problem you are experiencing appears to be due to a problem with the X-Emulation software, contact the vendor of this software directly for additional information, patches, etc. In addition, you can post to the USENET Newsgroup, comp.soft-sys.matlab, to see if another MATLAB user has encountered similar difficulties.
For your reference, MATLAB has been known to work through Virtual Network Computing (VNC) software, although MathWorks products are not qualified or tested in such environment. This option may be more robust than using an X-Emulator. There are several parties who offer free VNC software for many different architectures, and the source code is usually available as well. The software can be used across different platforms, and can allow individual users to assign themselves specific display numbers on a UNIX machine. That display number can be viewed on the user's PC, and the user can run the UNIX machine's window manager on that display. Another feature of using VNC is that once a user is assigned a display number, the VNC window can be closed and reopened without losing the contents of the display number's UNIX session. Additionally, if the VNC server is set up on one UNIX machine, then once the user logs into it, the user can remotely log into other UNIX machines and set those displays to the VNC display. This allows the user access to displays on virtually any available UNIX machine through a single VNC display.
