When upgrading to a new release should I deactivate the older release when uninstalling the previous release?

When I uninstall R2008a, it is recommended that I deactivate the license. If I have R2008b, or another MATLAB that has been activated, on this computer, should I deactivate?

If you have multiple versions of MATLAB that use activation (R2008a or later) on a computer and you uninstall one of them, you should not deactivate MATLAB. A MATLAB activation is tied to the HostID of a computer. For each computer, there is only one activation being used, regardless of the releases being used on that computer.
