Subject:

Why am I getting error when installing MATLAB on an NFS mount?

Problem Description:

When I try to install MATLAB Release 14SP2 on an NFS mount of a very large volume (about 1.5T) on a Solaris 8 system, the installation fails, issuing the following error message:

Stat of directory "/home/netcad/matlab/matlab_7" failed

The installer creates the $MATLAB/etc directory and places the license.dat file in that directory before the failure occurs. The same installation performed on a small volume is successful.

Solution:

This bug has been fixed in Release 2006a (R2006a). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:

This issue is under investigation. The only workaround available at this time is to install locally and then copy over the installation to the NFS mount.
