Why do I receive a "Critical Error During Initializing" error during installation on MAC with odd characters in the path?

Problem Description:

When attempting to run the installation on a machine where the primary language is non-english, an error during installation will occur as the installer cannot locate files on the path.

The installation will not run regardless if it's performed from CD's or downloaded files.

Solution:

This is a known issue. This is due to the fact the installer cannot obtain the correct path of the installation files because the Operating System is set to a non-English language.

The only known workaround is to install MATLAB while the primary language is set to English.

To do this, go to System Preferences > International and select the "Language" tab. The primary language is the first listed. Move English to the top of the list to make it the primary language on the machine.
