Why doesn't the installer launch on my Mac OS X machine?

When launching the installer I receive the error message below:

dyld: InstallForMacOSX can't open library: /usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2) Trace/BPT trap

Solution:

This error indicates that the version of MATLAB you are trying to install is not supported on this version of Mac OS X.
